The Sacramento live music community lost a dedicated fan last month. Denese Thomas, aka Kashmir, aka Queen of the Ryche, passed away in her sleep at the very young age of 40. She leaves behind 4 children and 2 grand-babies.

Denese was the most genuine and sweetest spirit ever.
There will be a Memorial/Benefit concert on Saturday March 20, 2010 in her honor and to help raise funds for her young family.

Saturday March 20th at The Roseville Moose Lodge (506 Lincoln St.)

Featuring Music from ; Prylosis, Cry Envy, Chop Shoppe Panik, Bloody Roots, Skyler Thomas, Darkside Shine, and Steve Mahoney Posse.

Tickets are $12 for Adult, $6 for Children under 8. Spagetti dinner provided with paid admission.  Doors open at 1 p.m. (first band at 2 p.m.)

Not Your Style began in early 2009. Vocalist Laith Kayyali and bassist Kylan Kegel, having previously played together in Sacramento-area bands, decided to venture out in search of something more.
After searching Craigslist for others sharing the drive and hunger to create energetic pop-rock music, they came across guitarist Chris Karriker. Next, they came upon young drummer Marc Moser, and when Marc brought in guitarist Dave Harris, NYS was complete.

Not Your Style hit the ground running.
After playing together for just six weeks, NYS wrote and recorded their debut EP …in the Conservatory with the Wrench with famed Sacramento producer/engineer Jack Trammell. NYS quickly made a name for themselves with their creative and energetic live shows.

This caught the attention of local radio stations, and within 4 months of being a band, NYS found themselves winners of a huge contest to open for the likes of Judas Priest, Whitesnake, Saliva, and Trapt. Despite the obvious stylistic differences between these hard rock heavyweights and NYS, the boys rocked the stage and wowed the huge crowd. 2009 was an amazing year for NYS.

2010 is quickly turning into an even better year for Not Your Style. Having just released their second EP “It’s Treason Then” armed with huge goals and an amazing fan base, NYS is determined to spread their live shows and energetic Pop-Rock music beyond the Sacramento area.
Do yourself a favor, and check out NYS’ energetic shows and listen to the music that they hope will one day rule the world.

markgilmore new show timeThe Longest Running local Music Showcase in California. Now stretching it’s Boundries to Outer Mongolia, Turlock, Antarctica, the planet Mars, and Your Mom.

Your Host, Mark Gilmore, plays some of the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly side of the California Music Scene. Focusing more on the Unsigned Acts, he will take a signed act like Papa Roach, Tesla, deftones, etc. and play them to death.

Some of the shows hottest features include:

The Artist of the Month Spotlight – 1 Band, 1 Month, lots of exposure.

The Flash Back Track – spotlighting a Local Band that either is no longer among the living, or has been around so long we just want to expose the roots, (and in some cases, The Mullets),

Live, acoustic, performances from many of the newest and/or talented bands in town.

Interviews with the people making the Scene better, or in some cases Worse…just kidding!

Frying one brain at a time…

Plasma Cannon, Sacramento’s very own bastard child, picking up the pieces of what was once and will never be again and assembling them into a weapon. A weapon of sound, of power, and of chaos. Enjoy the music and understand that when things get bad, they’re never really that bad, and that your problems are insignificant in the grand scheme.

Plasma Cannon is part of a Local Licks Benefit Show on Feb 13th… Here is the info for the show.

Local Licks, Junta Promotions, and Sac Music Rocks brings you a show you CAN NOT miss. All Proceeds to Benefit The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northern California. We want to help The Children of RMH get to camp Ronald McDonald @ Eagle Lake. A program where kids who have had their lives shattered by injuries and illness can escape their everyday horrors and be CHILDREN. It takes about $200 to send 1 kid to camp for 1 week. Let’s send as many kids as we can. To find out more about the Ronald McDonald House Charitites of Northern California, visit their website at www.rmhcnc.org. You can find a wish list for everyday household goods that are needed also. We are holding a collection for these goods also. Each item collected is equal to a free Raffle tickets.
