The word self centered is typically used in a negative light. That is not the definition behind these 5 guys, who came together as friends and have nothing to hide when it comes to their music. They are centered within themselves and are on a one way track to winning over your hearts and souls with the style they have created. Starting in December 2008, the original members of Self Centered were Blake on lead vocals, Ellis on guitar and screams, Jimi on bass, Bryan on guitar, and James on drums. After their debut at Club Retro, it was clear that they had found their calling.

Self Centered is influenced by many well known artists such as; Senses Fail, A Day to Remember, Atreyu, Story of The Year, and Green Day. Combining the talents of brothers James and Blake, the writing process seemed to flow and the lyrics all told a story. The hope of the band is that people can relate to what they sing about, and know they aren’t alone. When it came time to record, Self Centered was ready with 10 original songs. They went into Hollywood North Studios in Roseville, California and begin to make history with producer Colby Wedgeworth. The mastering of producer/engineer Jack Trammel at Fat Cat Studios only helped the CD reach its full potential. Less than a year from their first show, and Self Centered released a CD in October 2009.

In late 2009 Bryan decided to pursue his educational career as his main priority. With the holiday season right around the corner the guys decided it would be best to take a small break while they began their search for someone to fill the gap. By February of 2010, they had moved Jimi from bass to guitar, and picked up Ron on the bass. Not too long after, Self Centered was ready to hit the ground running. In the studio less than two months later, they recorded their cover to Paramore’s CrushCrushCrush in early March of 2010.

The guys in this band aren’t looking to become the next millionaires. They just want to make music, and have fun doing it. Over the last few years they have made many strides in the local music scene, and have shown to everyone the power behind their passion. In 2009 they were finalists in 98 Rock’s Rockallotapuss, and shared the stages with such artists like Shiny Toy Guns and Korn at Halo’s N Horns. In 2010 they placed 3rd in Your Music Magazine and 2nd at the Sierra College Battle of The Bands. You can hear them played on 98 Rock’s Local Licks with Mark Gilmore and they are always looking to play venues and meet fellow bands. They were chosen as 98 Rock’s Local Artist of the Month for August 2010 and they are honored to be featured.

It is evident Self Centered has no desire to hang up the mic anytime soon. The music not only speaks for itself but it also will speak to you. Keep an eye out for upcoming shows and more music from this promising team of talent.

We are Witzend…nice to know ya! We hail from Sacramento, California.
We love to hear from our fans…let us know what you think of our music.

Both James and Brandon (brothers) formed the band in 2008 with no real
aspirations of going anywhere or doing anything (musically) except to create
music together. Once they invited Mitchell, Russ & our friend Rahj (after a few
band member changes…about 2 hands full) into the “loop” things began to
click and the music began to take shape and started sounding pretty decent.

Witzend plays every Friday night at their local church’s youth group (Youth
On Fire) leading worship and also playing their originals. If you would like
to book a show with Witzend please drop them a message and they’ll get
back with you asap.

They would also like you to know that they are Christians first and
musicians second.

Take care and we appreciate all your love and support!

Better people have said nicer things about this band than I could ever express. So I am going to use their words, mixed with my own.Goodness Gracious Me just released a fantastic new album titled Waiting Room. Which I hear was recorded at a friends studio, while it was being built. The raw form of the studio surroundings bleeds into the rough, raw, grungy sound the band is so popular for.

Jeremy Green, vocalist/guitarist, leaves it all out on the stage when he performs. Yet not outshining the rest of the guys who tearing the place apart with the appropriate decibels to knock out a Banshee (I know, stupid, but it was all I could come up with). O.K., let’s just say Goodness Gracious Me comes at you with a ton of Swagger that is only found in a band with a modern edge and a classic rock feel.

Nick Miller of the Sacramento News and Review said it best when he said:

“It’s got a folk-rock Americana feel, but with hints of blues, math rock, rockabilly—and even a harder side… like eating spicy food, accidentally rubbing your eyes and crying greasy tears”
–Nick Miller, Sacramento News & Review

I agree. June will be spent highlighting the Waiting Room Cd from Goodness Gracious Me on Local Licks. With so much good material to work with, I still have no idea how I am going to pick the songs I use.

“WHiTE MiNORiTiES are a very unique hardcore metal band and stand out amongst other hardcore/metal bands in the fact that they mix their heavy style with crunchy guitar riffs, melodic breakdowns, in your face screaming, funky beats, wicked guitar and vocal effects, and even some rapping! Breaking all the rules, they label their style “Ghetto Metal” and threaten to bring a fresh new sound to the Sacramento scene as well as abroad. Stirring the pot with their controversial name they say they like the name, has no direct meaning and is actually more abstract than anything.”

-Sacramento News and Review

Although, I think the unedited, in-yo-face, fuck society, bio from the White Minorities myspace page is pretty good too.

We are the White Minorities! A mixture of hardcore metal, classic metal, gangsta rap and hip hop, and just fukin’ strait up ROCK!!! Comin’ out of Sacramento, California! A lot of people ask us what style of music we play or who or what band do we sound like and we can’t really answer, we play GHETTO METAL!!! We play whatever the fuk we want and refuse to be bound by the limitations of one particular style of music. We are White Minorities…if you are offended by the name GOOD, fuk being politically correct! It means nothing prejudice. We are a symbol of just how incorrect political correctness is. We are down with anyone who likes GOOD FUKIN’ Music no matter what color u are. Watch out for us cuz we’re creepin’ up! Our first album “Quarantine” will be droppin’ as soon as we make some fukin $$$. So listen to our tracks and tell us what u think… Never let anyone tell u what to do and never let any mother fukers judge you. Fuk the Fukin’ system. Everyday we are told how to live our lives. We were all raised and labeled with a color: white, black, brown, etc. But we are all the same, we all bleed the same color, and now our government tells us we can no longer be white, or tells us it’s no longer ok to say I’m a black man. We’ve grown up with pride for our heritage! Sometimes unknown to us except for the color we were given at birth!!! Be proud of yourself!!! Be cautious of your government!!! No one can control the path of your soul. CHANGE THE FUKIN WORLD!!! We are all White Minorities when compared to the people in power in our government in one way or another so lace up your FUKIN steel toe shoes and REPRESENT! Pwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!

Once You Ghetto, you never go back…it doesn’t rhyme, but who gives a Fuck

Not Your Style began in early 2009. Vocalist Laith Kayyali and bassist Kylan Kegel, having previously played together in Sacramento-area bands, decided to venture out in search of something more.
After searching Craigslist for others sharing the drive and hunger to create energetic pop-rock music, they came across guitarist Chris Karriker. Next, they came upon young drummer Marc Moser, and when Marc brought in guitarist Dave Harris, NYS was complete.

Not Your Style hit the ground running.
After playing together for just six weeks, NYS wrote and recorded their debut EP …in the Conservatory with the Wrench with famed Sacramento producer/engineer Jack Trammell. NYS quickly made a name for themselves with their creative and energetic live shows.

This caught the attention of local radio stations, and within 4 months of being a band, NYS found themselves winners of a huge contest to open for the likes of Judas Priest, Whitesnake, Saliva, and Trapt. Despite the obvious stylistic differences between these hard rock heavyweights and NYS, the boys rocked the stage and wowed the huge crowd. 2009 was an amazing year for NYS.

2010 is quickly turning into an even better year for Not Your Style. Having just released their second EP “It’s Treason Then” armed with huge goals and an amazing fan base, NYS is determined to spread their live shows and energetic Pop-Rock music beyond the Sacramento area.
Do yourself a favor, and check out NYS’ energetic shows and listen to the music that they hope will one day rule the world.

Frying one brain at a time…

Plasma Cannon, Sacramento’s very own bastard child, picking up the pieces of what was once and will never be again and assembling them into a weapon. A weapon of sound, of power, and of chaos. Enjoy the music and understand that when things get bad, they’re never really that bad, and that your problems are insignificant in the grand scheme.

Plasma Cannon is part of a Local Licks Benefit Show on Feb 13th… Here is the info for the show.

Allinaday Naked Lounge

ALLINADAY is an alternative rock band from Sacramento, California. They have played continuous shows since 2007, and just Rocked the stage at the 2009 California State Fair!

The boys are currently recording in Los Angeles at the Mouse House with Thomas Flowers (Lead singer of Oleander) and Rich Mouser (Producer/Oleander) on finishing their 5 track EP. As of now they have their 3 new songs up entitled “Here We Go Again”, “Step Down” & “My Own Sorrow”. They stated, “Working with Rich and Tom has helped define and tighten our sound”.

It hasn’t stopped there. Since their recording in LA, they have played live on TV with Good Day Sacramento featuring “Here We Go Again” and been receiving solid radio play thus leading to live sets on 98 Rock and 100.5 The Zone. They have also been featured in several magazines and newspapers, all who are supporting ALLINADAY’s efforts which can been seen in their press section. Their songs have been proving themselves by ranking in the top 5 for alternative rock on the Roadrunner Records site. They are also number 1 on indie music sites such as www.theindie.biz. Tony Kessman of Maverick Presents teamed up with ALLINADAY and has been a strong hand in working to get their music heard. Kessman reported “Here were these 4 relaxed and unassuming young guys and all of a sudden they began to play and my mind was blown! Every song had a different flare but it was a recognizable sound and style.”

“Our styles vary from song to song due to an expansive list of different influences and backgrounds from each band member. We all bring something creatively different to the writing, thus creating ALLINADAY’s unique style”. says Dave Ortiz lead singer and guitarist of ALLINADAY. The rest of the line up is Andrew Williams on guitar, Joel Case on bass guitar/vocals and their newest member Thomas Patterson on drums.

Much thanks to all who are supporting us along the way. It’s been a wild ride and always will be, but it’s worth it for the music.
