KTXL “FOX40″ aired the 30-second commercial Monday morning paid for the Sacramento-based Canna Care and produced by the station. It features testimonials about the benefits of medical marijuana — although the word “marijuana” is never used — while text on the bottom of the screen informs viewers that it can be used for relief of the symptoms or many diseases, including diabetes, HIV, Hepatitis C, hypertension and others. Of course, the ad has created controversy, with one opponent asking, “What’s next, medical cocaine?”

Just kidding …. BASIL MARCEAUX . . . the idiot who’s running for governor in Tennessee . . . has released an official campaign ad. In case you’ve never heard of Basil, he’s the guy who went on a local news station in Nashville a few weeks ago and said that if elected, he’ll let people carry unregistered firearms. And on his website, he says that people who vote for him will get immunity from state crimes for life. So, in other words . . . he’s a moron. His new campaign ad is more of the same . . . and it’s hard to believe it’s not a joke.

The battle over a proposed mosque near the Ground Zero site in New York continues to heat up. Conservative blogger Pamela Geller yesterday told CNN that Ground Zero “is a cemetery and sacred ground,” adding, “To build a 13-story mega mosque on the cemetery, on the site of the largest attack in American history, I think, is incredibly insensitive.” The building in question, at 45-47 Park Place, is now owned by a Muslim outreach group called the Cordoba Initiative, which has been using it as a place of worship. Some are pushing the get the building landmark status, so it would be more difficult for the Cordoba Initiative to transform the building into a mosque.
