LOCAL LICKS ON 98 ROCK
Posted in: Local Licks
The Longest Running local Music Showcase in California. Now stretching it’s Boundries to Outer Mongolia, Turlock, Antarctica, the planet Mars, and Your Mom.
Your Host, Mark Gilmore, plays some of the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly side of the California Music Scene. Focusing more on the Unsigned Acts, he will take a signed act like Papa Roach, Tesla, deftones, etc. and play them to death.
Some of the shows hottest features include:
The Artist of the Month Spotlight – 1 Band, 1 Month, lots of exposure.
The Flash Back Track – spotlighting a Local Band that either is no longer among the living, or has been around so long we just want to expose the roots, (and in some cases, The Mullets),
Live, acoustic, performances from many of the newest and/or talented bands in town.
Interviews with the people making the Scene better, or in some cases Worse…just kidding!

Life in the Scene – Bands ~vs~ Promoters
Posted in: Funny, Local Licks, Video
Although this is based in Great Briton, the scene is the same. People will either laugh their ass of at this parody, or they will get pissed off enough to never let it happen to them
or maybe some will relate better to this one…
Smile it’s all good in the hood.

Beard Growing is an art (Final Update)
Posted in: Contest, Douche Bags, Funny, Life, Local Licks, Pics
What do these guys have in common. First, there all ugly as sin…no really. Four friends have decided to shave their faces to find out who can grow a better beard.

So we have Xander (Pinky), Me (Double Chinning it), Girnie Brown (He likes Pain), and Ernie (man’s an Animal)
On November 1st, we all shaved clean. On December 1st we will see who has the better beard. Itchy Scratch Fun. Keep coming back as wee will post more pictures as we progress.
Status after week 1

So, 1 week has passed and we add to our ranks another contender. Welcome Colby to the Beard Brigade. He’s the guy showing us his tongue. Anyway, we are all itching like crazy, but the beards are coming along quite nicely. Stay tuned for more updates to come.
Status After Week 2

We all suck at the Beard growing thing. Shouldn’t we all look like Mountain men by now. All we look like is a bunch of Drifters. Anyway, the growth is more than just stubble, but the itching hasn’t stopped. God Bless this contest just to see us all make it through with out a Bail Out. and I have thought about it. Till next week…keep the razors away.
Status After Week 3

As you can see, we are all looking like a bunch of “Scruffy Looking Nerf Herders”. I was tempted to bring up the subject of trimming, especially the neck. But no, I think I will make everyone suffer through this. One more week to go and then we can see who has the best beard. What should we do to prove it? This reminds me of a Cheer’s Episode. Beer suds, and Velcro Darts Maybe!!! Anyway, Scratch on Brutha’s
SO, this is the finale of the Beard Growing Contest. The Pictures are in and we would like your help in picking the best beard of the lot. Below you will find all of our starting pictures right next to the Final picture. Leave us a comment and let us know what you think.

Halloween Surprise…
Posted in: Cool, Life, Local Licks, Music, Pics
Halloween night started just as any other night would start if I were to get dressed in a costume and head out the door. So like most nights
There was a party to be hosted at The Fire Escape Bar and Grill, all of my friends were coming, I was going to be able to drink because somebody else was driving. It was time to have fun.
Well little did I know that my wife and all of my friends were being sneaky little bastards. The show was a surprise party for me, honoring my 9 years as a member of the Local Music Scene and for Local Licks being an advocate for local bands.
So surprised as I was, I was so happy to see everyone. And now it’s time to try to remember some of the night and give thanks to those involved.

First, I need to thank Sam SEVER, Monroe (Captured Live Media), and my for keeping me in the dark for 4 months, and for setting this whole thing up. It was all way over the top and it felt good. So big kisses to all of you!
I want to thank the Fire Escape Bar and Grill for letting use destroy your bar with our drunken stupidity. Charles Twilling from Junta Productions for the sound, the stage, and the fantastic cake that was made to look like the Local Licks Logo. It was beautiful, and I didn’t want to cut into it. I am glad that I did because the cake was delicious.
To the Bands; Fairgame, Grey Atlas, Man Automatic, One Dying Secret, and Brand X Savior, I can not thank you enough for being a part of the show. I was truly honored to have you perform for me.
To some very special fans; Larisa Bryski (Love You, If you weren”t married…wink wink), Billy Schultz (God your sexy), Funkmasta ( You big lug), Kevin Graft (stop staring at my boobs), Dean O’ Shaunessy (Your friendship has meant a lot to me in the last few years), Thommy and Liz (Thanks for hanging out with the freaks), Mike Shively (Grey Atlas took a chance letting Mark Gilmore sing for you that night, great costume), Ernie and Catrina ( Your naked hot tub is the best I have ever been in…wait…did I say that out loud), Super Gina (Who couldn’t make it but was there in drunken spirit), Jack Knoester and Araorah, The Realist, Sour Deisel, Split Self, Egostall, Ben Sales (So glad you were still here to be a part of it, we will miss you when you move), and to everyone else who was there. It would take me a year to try and remember all the names. Love you all!!!!
I also want to thank Japan Auto Care, Captured Live Media, Entercom Radio, and ArchAngel Tattoo for all of the gifts and goodies for the costume contest and more.
Still Walking Around on Cloud Nine.
Okay, so I have a little philosophy in life that might help you have great friends like I do, and it is some good advice to those friends.
IF YOU HAVE A TALENT, USE IT IN EVERY WAY POSSIBLE. DON’Y HOARD IT. DON’T DOLE IT OUT LIKE A MISER. SPEND IT LAVISHLY, LIKE A MILLIONAIRE INTENT ON GOING BROKE.
